*Breakthrough Collaborative - a program that gives high school students (like you) the opportunity to be mentors and teachers to deserving middle school students. This program is an amazing one that provides high quality education for the students who attend. You can be a role model and teacher to inspiring middle school students, develop your leadership skills, and be a part of something that is slowly changing the world for young students of color.

*Spelman Summer Science Program
- This was a program that took place in July 2007, but I bet there will be another one held in 2009. It is for 11th grade females who are interested in pursuing careers in biology, biochemestry or other biomedical related fields. It is a residential program that is designed to provide students with an integrative science educational experience and develop their interpersonal skills. It sounds like a wonderful program for any of you interested in the bio-sciences. The 2007 coordinator was Tokiwa T. Smith. You can contact her at (404) 270-5855 or email her at ttsmith@spelman.edu.

*Community service hours at Madrona Marsh (Torrance) - The Madrona Marsh Nature Preserve in Torrance (near Del Amo Mall) offers community service hours for high school students by assisting with habitat restoration on the Preserve. These are on Saturdays from 8:45am-12:00pm. You must arrive on time!
